On April 28, I hosted the Kazakh Plastic Surgeons Educational Forum at the Almaty clinic, IsraEsthetic. The programme included my keynotes, Implant selection taking into account potential risks: preferences vs possibilities and The perfect proportions of the periorbital area: technique selection taking into account potential risks, and several broadcasts from the operating room: Eliminating asymmetry with Natrelle breast implants; Special considerations for the use of Arion bio / hydrogel implants; and Lower eyelid surgery, canthopexy.
My trip to Kazakhstan was short: I spent only one day in Almaty, but it was very eventful. In the morning, a small conference room at the clinic was filled with Kazakh plastic surgeons. First, I delivered two hour-long mammaplasty lectures and one lecture on blepharoplasty. Then I performed two breast surgeries: one with hydrogel implants, the other a circumvertical mastopexy with implants. The blepharoplasty was cancelled since the patient wasn’t motivated enough, but she served as my model for botulinum toxin injections.
The trip was great: excellent organization (I thank Victoria and Zarina for that), a nice clinic, an audience of competent and interested plastic surgeons, and warm hospitality. After the event, I had dinner with my colleagues at the legendary café, Snezhinka, where they held a master class on Facebook and Instagram just for me. I much appreciate their effort. The trip, though short, was very enjoyable. I would gladly visit Almaty again.
My model patient for the breast implants operation was Aziza Aybadullina, a famous Kazakh blogger with a popular Instagram account. Below are several quotes on the subject.
One of the best Russian surgeons, Vitaly Zholtikov, performed several operations involving state-of-the-art bio-implants in front of an audience. Aziza was among the patients who agreed to go under the knife at these demonstrations. The operations and the doctor’s comments were broadcast live to a conference room.
No kidding, my mammaplasty by @doctor_v.zholtikov has become the most actively discussed experiment in my entire blogging life.
I try to be positive. I looked at the outcomes of Dr Zholtikov’s operations, and they are all wonderful. That eliminated the question of why I was doing it. I am confident in his surgical talent.
